These quinoa meatballs are meatless, very tender and extremely tasty. They are fantastic with hummus, cucumber/tomato relish and pita style bread. Super healthy and great for a meat free meal!
We love making at home some of the food we have on our trips. It is (almost) like returning to that particular place, don't you agree? That's why we have many travel related dishes on this blog.
You probably don't know but we are Disney parks fans and there is a dish at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo Restaurant in the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge area at Disney's Hollywood Studios, in Orlando that we love! The name of this dish is Felucian Kefta and Hummus Garden Spread, which is a plant based option they have for lunch and dinner. We've created this quinoa meatballs recipe to satisfy our need to eat this dish as many times as we wanted. It is not exactly the same, but it is so delicious!
Tips on how to make these quinoa meatballs
- The quinoa should be a little overcooked, so it helps the meatballs to hold their shape without many ingredients.
- The onion and garlic are finely chopped, and we used half sautéed, and half raw.
- Instead of breadcrumbs, we used panko, but you can use breadcrumbs as well.

Ingredients
- 1/2 onion minced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
- ¼ tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 3 tbsp panko or breadcrumbs
- 3 cups cooked quinoa
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a small frying pan, heat the olive oil and sauté half the onion and garlic. Place them in a big bowl.
- Add remaining onion and garlic and all other ingredients, and mix well.
- Grease your hands and shape the meatballs. We used a tablespoon to measure the amount of the mixture we would use. Set them aside on a lightly greased plate.
- Preheat a large skillet with one tbsp of vegetable oil and place 1/3 of the meatballs to fry. Turn them carefully and remove them when golden brown. Repeat with remaining meatballs.
