This Strawberry Frozen Yogurt recipe is easy to make, super creamy and delicious! You won't even feel the need of having regular ice cream!

The first times we tried making strawberry frozen yogurt we did not like the results. We liked the taste, but not the texture. So after some failures we reached perfection with this recipe.

📋 Ingredients

  • plain yogurt: I recommed you use whole milk Greek yogurt
  • heavy cream: this is what makes this frozen yogurt creamier, but if you really want, you can substitute for the same amount of yogurt, but if you do, please use full fat yogurt!
  • strawberries: you can use fresh or frozen strawberries
  • sugar: you can substitute for honey

🍳 How to make it

  • In a blender, blend all the ingredients.
  • Transfer to a bowl, cover, and freeze the mixture for 1-2 hours (if you use frozen strawberries, 1 hour in the freezer should be more than enough).
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker. Churn until it has thickened to the texture of soft-serve.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and freeze until hard, at least 2 hours.
  • Before eating, remove frozen yogurt from freezer and let it sit on the counter for 10 to 15 minutes, until just soft enough to scoop.

🤔 Can I make frozen yogurt without and ice cream maker?

Yes, you can! You will blend all ingredients in a food processor or a heavy duty kitchen blender. Then place frozen yogurt in a large bowl, cover, and put it in the freezer.

To make it creamier, when approximately 1 inch around the edge of the bowl has frozen, beat the frozen yogurt with a hand mixer and return it to the freezer. Repeat this process until the mixture has a creamy texture!

📅 How long will frozen yogurt keep in the freezer?

Homemade frozen yogurts last less time in the freezer than commercially-made ones, so the sooner you eat, the better. But you can keep it in the freezer for about 2 to 3 weeks and still maintain its quality.

💛 Is frozen yogurt better than ice cream?

It depends. Not all frozen yogurts are healthy. Depending on the ingredients an ice cream can be healthier than a frozen yogurt.

This frozen yogurt has heavy cream, increasing the fat content. We were looking for great flavor and texture, that's why we added the heavy cream, but, as I've said before, you can make it healthier by using only yogurt.

🥛 Can I use homemade yogurt?

Yes, of course. Here is my recipe for homemade yogurt. There I'll show you how to turn regular yogurt into Greek yogurt.
