Creamy Polenta with Cheese and Bolognese Sauce
Ingredients
- For the Bolognese Sauce:
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 10 oz (300g) ground beef
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 can tomatoes
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the Polenta:
- 1 cup instant polenta
- 1 tsp salt
- 3 cups water
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 3.5oz (100g) mozzarella cheese, diced
- For serving:
- Grated parmesan cheese
Instructions
- For the Bolognese Sauce:
- In a frying pan heat the olive oil. Add onions and garlic and cook until translucent.
- Add the ground beef and cook.
- Add can of tomatoes, tomato paste, water and bay leaf (or basil leaves).
- Cook for around 20 minutes on low heat, stiring once in a while. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- While the sauce is cooking, make the polenta.
- For the polenta:
- Place water, salt and instant polenta in a pan and cook according to package instructions. Add heavy cream and cheese and stir a little more.
- Add more salt, if needed.
- For serving:
- In a bowl serve the polenta, cover with a generous portion of Bolognese sauce and sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top.
