Fall in love with this Banana and Dulce de Leche Pie, aka Banoffee Pie!

banoffee pie with bananas in the back

The first time we made this pie here at home we had no idea we were making a Banoffee Pie. Just after some time we realized we were basically making a British classic dessert 🙂

What is Banoffee Pie?

This is a popular English dessert pie made from bananas, whipped cream, dulce de leche and  a crust made of digestive biscuits.

The original recipe calls for digestive biscuit, but we don't have them in Brazil, so we use butter cookies, and let me tell, it's perfect. If you don't have them you can use one of the alternatives I give on the recipe.

How to make this Banana and Dulce de Leche Pie?

This is a no bake Banoffee Pie recipe and to make it you first have to place crushed cookies (butter cookies, graham crakers or digestive biscuits) in a bowl, add melted butter and spoon the crumbs into the base of a pie pan and about 1 inch up the sides to make a pie shell. You will chill it for around 30 minutes in the fridge (or 10 mins in the freezer). Meanwhile whip the cream and sugar, set aside and whisk the dulce de leche a little so it's creamier. You will then remove crust from the fridge and spread dulce de leche evenly over the cookie base. Now you jusy have to arrange the chopped bananas in an even layer on top of the dulce de leche, spread the whipped cream over the bananas. and dust with cocoa powder or ground cinnamon. That's it!

Let's make the recipe!
