Yes, you've read it right! This quick and easy microwave brownie recipe is ready in 2 minutes. Including prep time! Oh, you don't believe me?

Microwave brownie make in white ramekin, being spooned out to be eaten

The original recipe is from Food Network and when I saw it I couldn't believe it would be good. So I went straight to the kitchen to test it. And it was delicious!

The original recipe is called 30-second brownie, but this is only the time it takes to cook. Here at home, the total time was of about 2 minutes.

📋 Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour
  • granulated sugar or brown sugar (nowadays I prefer it with granulated sugar)
  • chocolate powder or cocoa powder (it will depend if you prefer a sweeter brownie or a more intense brownie)
  • water
  • vegetable oil
  • salt (just a pinch)
  • powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

🍳 How to make it

Making this microwave brownie is pretty simple:

  • In an individual serving bowl add flour, sugar, chocolate/cocoa powder and salt. Mix. Add water, vegetable oil and mix well. Microwave for 30 seconds on high. If you like, dust with powdered sugar.
  • The time needed on the microwave can change according to its power. If you have a powerful one, maybe start with 25 seconds and check. If you have a less powerful microwave oven, you might want to leave a little bit longer.

If you would like a traditional brownie recipe, take a look at this one: Best Ever Brownies. Or maybe one with a Brazilian twist: Brownies with Brigadeiro Frosting.

🍫 Variations

  • For a richer taste, use cocoa powder.
  • Chocolate powder will give you a sweeter and milder tasting brownie.
  • Add 1 chopped walnut or a couple of chopped almonds for extra crunch.
  • Place a piece of dark chocolate in the middle of the brownie before microwaving for a creamy surprise.
  • A drop or two of vanilla extract (or 1/4 tsp instant coffee) will add a kick to it.

It was actually so good but I would say to double the recipe or triple the recipe because it was too small.
