When I published a recipe for blondies I said that even though we don’t make it that often, it’s a must-have recipe for everyone that likes sweets and baking. That’s the same for a caramel sauce. You may not make it frequently but it’s nice to have a recipe you like and trust, so you can make it whenever you need it.
This Caramel Sauce recipe is easy, quick to make and tastes great!
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- In a microwave-safe bowl mix sugar, corn syrup and water. Heat it in the microwave for 2 minutes - until it reaches a dark yellow color.
- Remove from microwave and add heavy cream, butter and vanilla extract. When you pour these ingredients the mixture will boil - be careful - and mix well. Add a pinch of salt and mix again.
- Use immediately or keep it in the fridge for a few days.
- If the caramel sauce thickens, heat it in the microwave for around 20 seconds.
