basic muffins

I have only one thing to say about this basic muffins recipe... They are just perfect! I'm not kidding, you have to make them! But why do I call them basic muffins? It's because you can eat them plain or you can make variations using this recipe as a base for blueberry muffins, orange zest muffins, or any other flavor you like! They are simply the best 😉

📋 Ingredients

As you'll see here, you probably have all ingredients at home! To make this recipe you'll need:

  • all purpose flour
  • sugar
  • baking powder
  • salt
  • unsalted butter
  • egg
  • milk

💭 Variations to this basic muffins recipe

  • You can add 1 cup of berries to this batter - blueberries or chopped strawberries are a great option!
  • You could substitute half the all-purpose flour for whole-wheat flour
  • And what about some lemon or orange zest (use about 1 tbsp) and poppy seeds (about 2tbsp)

🍳 How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
  • Place dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder and salt) into a bowl and mix well.
  • In another bowl mix liquids: butter, egg and milk.
  • Add liquid all at once to dry ingredients. Stir until mixture is combined - but batter should look a little lumpy.
  • Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups and bake for around 20 minutes or when a toothpick comes out clean.

💭 Tips

  • Don't overmix the batter, or muffins will have a tough texture - batter should look a little lumpy
  • Use non-stick muffin pans
  • Keep them at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze them for up to 2 months.
