This Basic Muffins are easy to make and you probably have all ingredients at home! They are perfect for breakfast, an afternoon snack and you can easily make variations to the recipe!
I have only one thing to say about this basic muffins recipe... They are just perfect! I'm not kidding, you have to make them! But why do I call them basic muffins? It's because you can eat them plain or you can make variations using this recipe as a base for blueberry muffins, orange zest muffins, or any other flavor you like! They are simply the best 😉

As you'll see here, you probably have all ingredients at home! To make this recipe you'll need:
- all purpose flour
- sugar
- baking powder
- salt
- unsalted butter
- egg
- milk
💭 Variations to this basic muffins recipe
- You can add 1 cup of berries to this batter - blueberries or chopped strawberries are a great option!
- You could substitute half the all-purpose flour for whole-wheat flour
- And what about some lemon or orange zest (use about 1 tbsp) and poppy seeds (about 2tbsp)
🍳 How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350F (180C).
- Place dry ingredients (flour, sugar, baking powder and salt) into a bowl and mix well.
- In another bowl mix liquids: butter, egg and milk.
- Add liquid all at once to dry ingredients. Stir until mixture is combined - but batter should look a little lumpy.
- Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups and bake for around 20 minutes or when a toothpick comes out clean.
💭 Tips
- Don't overmix the batter, or muffins will have a tough texture - batter should look a little lumpy
- Use non-stick muffin pans
- Keep them at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze them for up to 2 months.
