Chicago was not a popular destination on our wish list, but in 2012 things changed. We were planning a trip to New York using our frequent flier points but the amount of points needed to go there was outrageous so we had to think of somewhere else. So I asked the airline attendant: What about Chicago? It turned out that we had enough points to go there! So in minutes, a trip to Chicago was being planned (we ended up going to NYC as well, but that’s another story…).
When we arrived in Chicago, all we could think was: How come this amazing city was not on the top of our list? That’s why I would like to share with you 5 reasons you have to visit this great city with your family.
1) THE MUSEUMS
2) THE CLOUD GATE AND OTHER SCULPTURES AROUND THE CITY
The Cloud Gate, also called The Bean, is a public sculpture at Millennium Park. I wasn’t expecting much from it but this sculpture is really amazing. Not only that, you will find great art in the city like Picasso’s sculputure and Chagall’s mosaic.
Have you booked your hotel?
We always choose our hotels as soon as we set the travel date to get great prices. And to do this we use Booking.com. It is the easiest way to search for available hotels, best location, and of course, the best price.
3) OUTDOOR AREAS LIKE THE MILLENIUM PARK AND NAVY PIER
You will love to walk around this section of Michigan Avenue. And a perfect end to this stroll is a boat or water taxi ride on Chicago River.
5) THE SKYLINE AND A VISIT TO WILLI’S TOWER
Chicago has a breathtaking skyline and part of it is because the tall buildings contrast with historic constructions.
And Willi’s Tower Skydeck is definitely worth the visit. Don’t miss the Ledge, a glass box extend out 4.3 feet from the skyscraper’s Skydeck on the 103rd floor.
The windy city has much more to offer but I think you got my message: You have to visit Chicago! 🙂
