We rarely use store-bought tomato sauce here at home. But we like to have one in our pantry. Just in case.
So one of these days we were very tired for doing anything, but at the same time we wanted to eat something good. We had some fresh pasta and 2 options: open a jar of tomato sauce or make a tomato sauce from scracth. But then we came up with a third option, improve the one in the jar. In a quick and easy way!
What we did? In a skillet we cooked some bacon (3 slices, roughly chopped), added the tomato sauce, a bay leaf and some olive oil. That was it! And the flavor improved so much.
We were so happy with the result that we even made some garlic, herbs and parmesan toasts 🙂
And, freshly grated parmesan cheese on top, of course!
