A few months ago we visited some friends and we simply fell in love with a cookbook they had! We borrowed it and the first recipe we tried was a Fig, Pecan and Mascarpone Cake. Just fantastic!
But the recipe called for fig jam and even though there are some brands that sell fig jam here in Brazil, we decided to make our own.
It’s so easy to make you’ll probably wanna make yours too 🙂
- 14oz (400g) fresh fig, peeled
- 7oz (200g) sugar
- Cut the fig. Place them and sugar in a saucepan. Turn on the heat and stir until sugar dissolves. With a fork, crush the fig a little. Let it simmer for around 30 minutes, stirring a few times.
- Remove the foam that forms on top.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
You can easily change the amount of jam you make, just keep the 2/1 ratio.
This fig jam is so delicious, with a great taste of fresh fig. It’s just perfect to spread on a freshly baked bread or with the upcoming recipe: Pecan, Fig and Mascarpone Cake!
